    Hawks' offence is strong but can't beat Corvallis' impact bats

    Coming off a disappointing start to their road trip, the Riverhawks arrived in Corvallis looking to open the back half of their road trip with a bang. The offense struck early and battled the entire game, tallying one of their highest hit totals of the season with 13. Coming ever so close to a comeback with the go ahead run on base in the 9th, the Riverhawks were unable to complete the comeback, falling 6-5 in Corvallis.

    #57 Omar Gonzalez continued his recent tear tonight, increasing his hit streak to 7 games and adding 2 more RBI’s to his 2026 total. #1 Shiryu Sato also continued his hot streak, going 2/4 adding an RBI of his own and cashing in two runs.

    Your Riverhawks are out to even up the series tomorrow against the Knights. First pitch is thrown at 8:15pm MT.

    In the first inning, the Riverhawks wasted no time jumping out to a 1-0 lead. #1 Shiryu Sato continues to rake, extending his hit streak to 4 games, cranking a double into center field. After #1 Shiryu Sato advanced to 3rd base on a wild pitch, he is hit home by #58 Omar Gonzalez, cashing in his 5th RBI of the 2026 campaign.

    The Knights would respond with a counter the very next inning. After #27 Ethan Porter walked, and tagged up on a bold play to second, and #11 Ian Draper hit a double that bounced high off the 8ft left field wall to tie the game 1-1.

    The bottom of the 2nd saw the Knights extend their early lead, as #27 Ethan Porter hit a single up the middle to score one. With the bases loaded and 2 out, a wild pitch added an insurance run as #2 Max Medina sprints home to make it 3-1 Knights.

    The Riverhawks would return with of run of their own as #2 Drew Veatch cranks a full count double to kick off the inning. #1 Shiryu Sato grabbed his second hit of the game, scoring #2 Drew Veatch on an infield single to make it 3-2.

    Corvallis would push the lead back to 2 in the 4th as #27 Ethan Porter added his second RBI off a double to right field to make it 4-2.

    #57 Finnegan Stewart would light up the scoreboard for the Riverhawks again, blasting a solo bomb over the left field fence for his first home run of the season! The leadoff homer cut the lead to 4-3!

    The Knights would have another response for the Riverhawks rally, as #2 Max Modina cranks a sacrifice fly to right field to regain the insurance run for Corvallis. 5-3 would be the score after the 6th. The runs would continue, as #27 Ethan Porter would add to his RBI total on the night, hitting a single to center to score another to make it 6-3.The late rally attempt started in the 8th for the Riverhawks, as #32 Jason Green kicked it off with a double, and #57 Finnegan Stewart followed him up with a walk. Corvallis almost escaped the jam before #10 Cole Kreisel slapped a double down the 3rd base line to make it a 6-4 ballgame.

    The momentum would continue for the Riverhawks in the 9th as #1 Shiryu Sato was absolutely drilled on the leadoff pitch of the inning to secure a lead off walk, followed by another walk by #39 Chris Parkin. It would be #57 Omar Gonzalez to draw the lead to just one as he grabs his second RBI of the game, cutting the lead to 6-5. With runners on first and second, the Riverhawks were unable to cash the tying run, falling to the Knights for the first time this season.

    The Riverhawks finished with 13 hits on the night, almost completing the comeback in Corvallis.
