Down 6-3, Hawks can't come back to beat Vic's mid-game surge

The Edmonton Riverhawks opened up the road portion of their 2026 West Coast League regular season with a loss. The Hawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead wound up on the short end of a 6-3 decision to host the Victoria HarbourCats at Wilson’s Group Stadium on Tuesday (June 2).
Edmonton falls to 1-2 on the season while Victoria improves to 2-2 as they drew 2,163 fans for their home opener. The Riverhawks had three runs on eight hits with one error. The HarbourCats tallied six runs on 12 hits and committed two errors.
The Riverhawks opened the scoring in the top of the second inning. #51 Easton Andrews led it off with a stand up double to left center field. Edmonton loaded the bases before Vic starter Hudson Lance walked #13 Jaxon Fox to bring in Andrews for the game’s first run.
The HarbourCats get on the board and take the lead in the bottom of the fourth. With two out and two on, Edmonton reliever #40 Nikau Heaney served up a broken bat single. The ball went to left field where #42 Marvin Hill bobbled it to give Victoria a 2-1 advantage.
The HarbourCats enlarged their lead to three in the bottom of the 5th leading the inning off with a single up the middle, scoring on an RBI single. Victoria would load the bases a little later on in that inning. Dryden Fuoco stepped in and singled to bring to make it a 5-1 score. All those runs coming off Heaney. Heaney was charged with the loss.
Victoria made it a 6-1 game in the 6th, a ball down the third base line that Hawks infielder Fox couldn’t contain scored a runner from third.
Edmonton loaded the bases in the top half of the 7th. Designated hitter #25 Matt Van Slyke walked and was brought home when Andrews was hit by a pitch. #32 Jason Green singled to right field and scored when #34 Tony Moore walked. That made the final score 6-3.
For Edmonton: Andrews was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Fox was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Green was 2 for 5 with a run scored.
