Coxen leads Hawks in their second shutout of road trip

The final game of the Riverhawks road trip started pretty quiet, with both teams only producing 1 hit each for the first 3 innings. After the Riverhawks added a run in the 4th, the offense came to life in the 5th. Similar to yesterday's 9 run 5th inning, your Riverhawks used another massive middle frame to put the game out of reach, cruising to an 8-0 victory, and claiming their second series win of the season in Corvallis. #58 Omar Gonzalez led the charge tonight going 2/4 with 3 RBI’s, 2 of them coming in the 5th inning alone off a sharp single to left. #2 Drew Veatch also labeled his 1st home run in his WCL career, crushing a ball to left field to seal off the 8-0 lead.
The pitching staff also put on a clinic against the Knights. Riverhawks starter #30 Sam Coxen delivered his best performance of the season, pitching 6 innings of scoreless baseball while only allowing 2 hits and tossing 5 strikeouts. The starter's performance tonight also earned his first win of the season.

It was a quiet first three innings, with both teams mustering up one hit a piece. Your Riverhawks would break the scoreless drought with a 2 out single from the first baseman, #58 Omar Gonzalez. With that RBI, #58 Omar Gonzalez secures his 3rd RBI of the series and his 7th of the 2026 campaign.
Your Riverhawks would light the score board up, tallying a monster 6 run inning to put the game out of reach. #2 Drew Veatch would kick it off, cranking a single into center, before stealing both second and third base. After #1 Shiryu Sato walked, #31 Kotaro Wakui picked up an RBI, scoring #2 Drew Veatch on a fielder's choice to make it 2-0.
The Riverhawks wouldn’t stop there, as #57 Finnegan Stewart cranked a 1 out double, putting himself and #31 Kotaro Wakui in scoring position. The aussie #48 Max Stagg would catch a break, as Corvallis pitcher #44 Bryce Hill fielded a ground ball, but airmailed his throw over the Corvallis short stop and second baseman, scoring two more runs for the Riverhawks and extending their lead to 4-0. The bases would be reloaded for the Riverhawks for the second time in the inning.
#58 Omar Gonzalez would continue to have a day, adding two more RBI’s to his daily total with a single to center, stretching the Riverhawks lead to 6-0. In the 7th, the catcher #32 Jason Green would drive in another, cranking a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring #39 Chris Parkin.
#2 Drew Veatch would absolutely crush a ball to left field in the 8th, earning his first home run in the WCL, increasing the gap in the Riverhawks lead to 8-0.
Corvallis looked to rally in the 9th, creating a no out, bases loaded situation. #41 Trey Nance had the answer to secure the shutout, retiring three straight batters, including a strikeout.The second road trip of the year finishes with a 3-5 record for the Riverhawks.
