The Edmonton Riverhawks are gearing up for Monday’s long-awaited Home Opener presented by Global Television. The first home game in franchise history will trigger a season full of great baseball, cool prizes and fun themes. People can win everything from trips to hot spots to diamond rings while watching theme nights featuring everything from drag queen dance offs to dogs in the park.

The Home Opener June 6 against the Portland Pickles will be steeped in Indigenous tradition to launch the season, as this is National Indigenous History Month and RE/MAX Field sits on historic land. Tuesday Mascot Mania will see mascots from across the city gather to welcome the Riverhawks mascot, River, and, potentially, a notorious mascot from Portland! Wednesday we Stand With Ukraine. We welcome Ukrainian Nationals to the game, including two 7 year old twins from Ukraine who will toss out the first pitches, enjoy performances from Viter Ukrainian Dance and Folk Choir and have a 50-50 - and other fundraisers - to generate funds for Ukrainian Canadian Social Services.

Friday we kick off a three game set with Port Angeles with Friday Night Fireworks set off after the game by Uncle John’s Fireworks. Saturday Strike Out Hate, powered by Pride Tape, will see the Party Queens perform and stage drag dance offs on the roofs of the dugouts. Sunday we round out the series with Hawks and Hounds. The Riverhawks and Edmonton Humane Society welcome people to bring their dogs to the ballpark, watch some cool pet tricks and raise money for the care of cats and dogs.

While the season is full of fun theme nights (full promo schedule below), we will also launch a Fan Appreciation initiative. We will hand out a lot of great prizes at our final game of the season but we will also see fans win cool prizes throughout the entire season, including two tickets to anywhere Swoop flies (this will happen on four different occasions!), diamond rings from Independent Jewellers, a QuietKat e-bike from RCM Motorsports, camping getaways from ArrKann Trailers and RVs, hot air balloon rides from RE/MAX, and more!

It’s going to be an action packed season on and off the field. We welcome people to the diamond in the river valley to watch great baseball, have fun in the stands, win great prizes and, in the process, help build community.
