    Welcome to the Senior Hawks Recreational Baseball League (SHRBL)!

    Play competitive, fun baseball at Edmonton's iconic RE/MAX Field! The SHRBL offers a professionally run league for adults 18+, combining serious play, great facilities, and an awesome baseball community.

    League Overview

    • Who Runs It: Operated by the Edmonton Riverhawks Baseball Club (10-year lease at RE/MAX Field).

    League Highlights

    Game Format
    • 7-inning games with a 2-hour time limit.
    • No new inning after 1 hour 45 minutes.
    • Maximum 5-run rule per inning for balanced competition.
    • Tie games allowed if time runs out.
    • International tiebreaker rules for extra innings (runner starts on 2nd base, 1 out).
    Equipment
    • Only wood/composite bats allowed (no metal bats).
    • No metal spikes — rubber cleats or athletic shoes only.
    • Proper helmets required for all batters and runners.
    • Bat boys/girls must wear helmets.
    • Top-quality Baden baseballs used (official ball of West Coast League).
    • 6 new or excellent balls provided per game.
    Code of Conduct
    • Emphasis on respect, fairness, and good sportsmanship.
    • Captains and players work together to create a positive experience.
    • Be a good sport at all times — win or lose.
    • Commit to participating as much as possible.
    • Respect teammates, opponents, coaches, and umpires.

    Player & Team Information

    • Players must be 18 years or older before the first game.
    • Both male and female players are welcome.
    • Teams must register at least 14 players, with individual player fees of $550 plus GST for the 2025 season.
    • If teams are short of players, they will either receive assigned free agents or share the cost difference.
    • Substitute players available ($40 per game).
    • Every team must have a Captain and Assistant Captain responsible for communication, disputes, and uniforms.
    • Team captains are responsible for uniforms (jersey, hat, belt, socks).
    • League does not provide uniforms.
    • Teams can start with 8 players.
    • Less than 8 players at start time = automatic forfeit.
    • Forfeits with less than 24h notice = $100 fine.
    • Substitute players can't pitch, but can play other positions.
    • Teams must notify the league 24h in advance if needing subs.

    Season Details

    • Schedule:
      • Sunday Tripleheaders: 5:00 PM / 7:00 PM / 9:00 PM
      • Monday Doubleheaders: 7:00 PM / 9:00 PM
      • Teams will undergo a lottery draw to determine their team number.
    • Preseason Training Camp:
      • Saturday, May 10, 2025
      • 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at RE/MAX Field
      • Includes skill stations, team placement for free agents, and development.
    • Year-End Celebration:
      • Hosted at the Hawks Nest Restaurant inside RE/MAX Field.
      • Complimentary snacks and drinks for players and families.
      • Field and stadium tours (weather permitting).

    Stadium Details

    • Warm-up Areas:
      • Softball field north of RE/MAX Field for pre-game throwing.
      • 10-minute on-field warmups before games once the field is clear.
      • Starting pitchers can warm up earlier on side mounds.
    • Batting Cages:
      • Players may access cages via Hawks Nest hallway before 7 PM and 9 PM games (running shoes required inside Hawks Nest).
    • Spectator Access:
      • Fans enter through Hawks Nest Restaurant.
      • Watch games from the Hawks Nest or select suites.
      • Suites must be kept clean — teams fined $100 if garbage is left behind.

    Disputes & Suspensions

    • Disputes:
      • Must be documented by the captain and submitted within 24h to the Commissioners.
      • Decisions made within 5 days.
    • Player Suspensions:
      • Umpires can eject players for threatening behavior, physical contact, or instigating fights.
      • Suspended players must leave immediately.
      • Possible penalties: Game ejection, 3-game suspension, or Season-long suspension (no appeals).

    Special Notes

    • All players must be in the batting lineup.
    • Late-arriving players are added to the end of the batting order.
    • Pitchers can leave and re-enter the game once.
    • Courtesy runner for catchers after two outs (last out used).
