Five Riverhawks Prepare for All Star Debut
2024-07-15
North v South Wednesday in Bellingham
Five Edmonton Riverhawks are preparing to make their West Coast League All Star debuts this week.
Pitchers Vicarte Domingo and Tate Dearing will suit up for the North Division All Stars along with Bryce McFeely, Jakob Poturnak and Michael Soper.
Domingo has been all world in the WCL this summer, going 5-0 with a .93 ERA. Dearing is not far behind, recording two wins against no losses, and posting a 2.28 ERA.
McFeely has been holding one of the hottest bats in the league this season. He has recently 'cooled off' to a .324 batting average. Poturnak, who wowed fans at RE/MAX Field earlier this season with an opposite field home run, has steadily been climbing the ladder of league leading hitters, now sitting at a .336 average, good for 7th place in the WCL. Soper has been a rock for the Riverhawks since the start of the season, and now boasts a .309 batting average.
The players will take the field in Bellingham Wednesday, for the game featuring the league's best on best.
All the Riverhawks return to the nest to begin a nine game homestead beginning Friday, when the Springfield Drifters come to town, and Baseball Goes Bollywood, a game that will feature Bhangra and Bollywood dancing and music as well as a taste of cricket!
