Batman Fan Honoured After Handcuffing Batters!

Edmonton Riverhawks pitcher Aren Alvarez is a big fan of Batman and even the Caped Crusader would be impressed by Aren's recent achievements on the mound.

Today the West Coast League named Alvarez Pitcher of the Week after he handcuffed the Kamloops NorthPaws last Wednesday. The Riverhawks Righthander was flying high, going seven innings and limiting the Paws to just two hits while striking out nine. The Riverhawks won the game and it was Aren's most impressive work of the season but you could argue justice was not served as Aren did not get the decision as the teams were tied when he left the game (relievers Tylor Jans and Cam Liss, who got the win were also outstanding!).

Aren is 2-0 with the Riverhawks, having appeared in ten games and registering a 2.34 ERA and recording 35 strikeouts. His work has helped put the expansion Hawks into a tie for top spot in the second-half standings in the North Division.

Earlier this year, the native of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, pitched in 20 games with UC San Diego, posting a 3-4 record and 4.32 ERA during his junior campaign. He is studing public health but remains focused on becoming a hero in the big leagues.

When he's not busy at the ballpark, he enjoys listening to Ozuna, Kanye West, and Morgan Wallen or watching his favourite superhero on the screen.

    Congratulations, Aren!
