Canada Day Fireworks Game Kicks Off Wild Long Weekend!
2022-06-29
Friday Night Party Details & Reasons to Return Saturday & Sunday!
It's the date a lot of you have circled on the calendar - Canada Day! We've got a rocking birthday party planned for our great nation and a house full of fans. Our Canada Day Game powered by 630 CHED kicks off a sensational triple play of games on the long weekend!
Friday: Canada Day Powered by 630 CHED
(Doors Open at 530pm! 1st Pitch at 7pm)
We're throwing open the doors at 5:30 to get this party started early! Come on down, listen to some tunes and let the kids jump around in the RE/MAX bouncy castle out front.
Step inside to the music of Bigspin DJ and enjoy specials on Canadian creations such as poutine, Caesars and Molson Canadian!
We have the Nanaimo NightOwls in town to play our Riverhawks so of course we have Nanaimo Squares to give away - another great Canadian invention!
On the field, you're going to see the Hawks sporting some flamboyant Every Child Matters orange jerseys to symbolize the road to reconciliaton we share with our Indigenous friends. We're auctioning off these bad boys off on the concourse with all proceeds going to the Indian School Survivors Society. Get a player(s) to sign your jersey after the game!
You can chat up the players after the game as we'll welcome people on to the diamond for some Mardis-style fun with Brasstactics, an absolutely killer brass band. The bouncy balloon castle will come to life once again, this time in the outfield, and the RE/MAX hot air balloon will also be there for people to get a little air.
The Home Plate Lounge and Concessions will remain open until 11 pm, when the fireworks are set to begin just across the river. Settle in for a great view of some fantastic fireworks.
We recommend getting to the ballpark early and to take an Uber/taxi, bike or bus. We have limited parking on site and we expect it to be full in short order. Parking enforcement in Rossdale will be in full effect.
That is going to be one crazy busy Friday - and that's just the start of the long weekend fun!
Saturday: One Game & Two Shows Saturday (Improv & a Movie!)
(Doors Open at 6pm, 1st Pitch at 7pm)
I went to an Improv Show and a baseball game broke out! Edmonton's best known improv comic, Donovan Workun, is working the crowd with his pal, Graham Neil on the mic. Donovan, the star of the popular Hot Boy Summer, is in the middle of more shows at the Grindstone Theatre but he and his buddy are taking time to have fun with the fans in the stands and the players on the field!
After the Riverhawks do their business with the NightOwls, we'll settle in for a nightcap by putting the movie, "The Sandlot," on the big screen. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and sit back to enjoy this classic baseball flick for the family!
Sunday: Gotta Have Faith
(Doors Open at Noon, 1st Pitch at 1 pm)
We are two games into this trifecta so we are not even close to taking our foot off the gas! Gotta Have Faith Sunday will feature some amazing music before and after the game.
In between, we will be announcing the winners of our first Fan Appreciation Prizes. How much do we appreciate our fans? How about to the moon and back, as evidenced by a couple of goreous mid-season prizes: a R.V. weekend camping getaway courtesy of our friends at ArrKann Trailer & RV and beautiful diamond ear rings from the great people at Independent Jewellers. Whether it's for you or your loved one, the ring comes with a Riverhawk guarantee this baby will be a difference maker in your relationship!!!Each prize is worth about one thousand dollars1
