Rink of Dreams Comes Alive!

2022-12-05

Festival of Trees First Chance for Public to Skate

The unveiling of a new Rink of Dreams in River City caused quite a stir!

We shared images of the new skating rink at RE/MAX Field on the weekend and the reaction was swift and enthusiastic: "#yeg's newest rink of dreams!" "This is awesome!!!" "Sliding into home will be bonkers" "Details? Don't make us jump the fence lol"

We think the new sheet of ice in the river valley is pretty cool, too. We built it as part of our commitment to the University Hospital Foundation and its Festival of Trees December 17 and 18.

Before that weekend arrives, we wanted to give the ice a test run and we had the chance to do that this past weekend at our Thank You event for our partners, employees and volunteers. People loved skating in this magical setting and it was great to have so much fun breaking in the ice. We are now fine tuning the surface for the public debut in less than two weeks time.

The Festival of Trees will not only show off some gorgeous Christmas trees. It will also feature it's loved children's market, about 30 merchants from the Old Strathcona Farmers' Market, our Hawk Shop merchandise shop as well as Bush League Baseball, where you can see how hard you can throw a baseball and buy some choice merch. Finally, River Valley Adventure is going to set up an obstacle course where you can try your hand driving a segue!

It's shaping up to be a great weekend. The hours are Saturday 12 to 6 and Sunday 10 to 4. Admission is free and but the University Hospital Foundation is having people book tickets so officials can manage the crowd. The time slots are almost fully booked for the first Winter Wonderland Holiday Market but you can grab some of the last time slots here: https://bit.ly/3iwUp6q

Please be patient if tickets sell out. Guests can still enter on the day-of as the venue has capacity. There may be some wait times involved.

All this flurry of activity has prompted us to ensure there will be future opportunities for people to come skate at the diamond in the river valley. Please follow all the Edmonton Riverhawks information channels to stay on top of the news regarding our latest offerings to embrace the elements, come for a twirl and help build community!
