Boys are Back in Town!
Rookie Jakob Poturnak & dad Brian talk wth vet Shaun Atamanchuk
The Edmonton Riverhawks are returning to their nest, commonly known as RE/MAX Field, for the 2023 campaign!
Players like fan favourites Will Gardner, Brendan Loeppky and other veterans are back in River City having completed their tours of duty with their various university teams south of the border. They're joined by a cast of newcomers, some of whom have a little international flair, like Ren Yokoyama from Japan, and Jakob Poturnak, who was born in Vancouver and raised in the Philippines. There are 25 rookie Riverhawks to complement the 15 member veteran presence in the clubhouse.
The team will practice every afternoon this week but it's a short turnaround as they are back on the road early Friday morning to Bellingham for their season opener. After a three game set against the Bells, the boys jump back on the road in Washington to visit Ridgefield; then it's on to Cowlitz to complete the nine games in ten days against opponents in the northwestern state.
The Riverhawks Home Opener Tuesday, June 13, kicks off 27 fun-filled games at RE/MAX Field, with the final regular season game Sunday, August 6.
The Riverhawks team off the field places a heavy emphasis on fun and affordability and the highly anticipated promotional schedule will be released next week.
