Stars of the Summer: Riverhawks Rack Up All-WCL Selections

    2025-08-19

Seven players recognized after a milestone-filled 2025 season in Edmonton

Following a historic 2025 season that featured record-breaking performances on the field, the deepest playoff run in franchise history, and another single-season attendance record, the Edmonton Riverhawks continue to add to their growing list of accolades.

This afternoon, the West Coast League announced that seven Riverhawks have been named to All-WCL teams.

Leading the way is Myles Chamberlain, who earned a spot on the All-WCL First Team, an honour achieved by only a handful of Riverhawks in franchise history.

The 6'2" Canadian right-hander was outstanding on the mound all summer, collecting seven regular season wins, the most in the entire West Coast League amongst pitchers.

Across the regular season and playoffs, Chamberlain recorded 35 strikeouts and maintained a strong 2.89 ERA. His standout moment came in a must-win playoff game at RE/MAX Field, where he earned the victory that sent the Riverhawks to the North Division Championship.

This fall, Chamberlain will continue his baseball journey with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds, one of Canada’s premier collegiate programs.

The Riverhawks trio of 2025 WCL All-Stars—Jason Green, Trent Lenihan, and Max Stagg—continued their impressive seasons, each earning a spot on the All-WCL Second Team!

Trent Lenihan, a second year Riverhawk, was a driving force in the Hawks’ offense all summer long. The UBC senior delivered at the plate with a .330 batting average, while leading the team in RBIs (44), and adding 36 runs scored and 4 home runs. His consistent production and clutch hitting made him one of the most dangerous bats in the Riverhawks lineup and in the entire league.

Jason Green, the towering 6’5” catcher, was a powerhouse behind the plate this season. The Canadian knocked out 9 regular-season home runs, breaking the Riverhawks’ single-season home run record! He also racked up 42 hits and drove in 36 RBIs over 48 games.

Rounding out the All-WCL Second Team is fan favourite Max Stagg. All summer long, Stagg walked up to the plate to the roar of “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie” chants at RE/MAX Field, fueling an impressive season. He finished with a .328 batting average, 60 hits, 45 runs scored, 35 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases across 183 at-bats during the regular season and playoffs.

This fall, Max will take his talents to Division I baseball after recently signing with the University of California, Santa Barbara Gauchos.

But the All-WCL honours didn’t stop there for the Riverhawks.

Three more players received Honourable Mentions for their standout performances this season:

Riley Barrett, from the Edmonton Collegiate Hawks program, has been a key part of the Riverhawks since their inaugural season in 2022. Originally from Scottsdale, Arizona, Riley has embraced Edmonton as his second home. This summer, he made 11 appearances on the mound, picking up 4 wins, 6 saves, and finishing the regular season with a 2.97 ERA and 26 strikeouts.

Kyle Yip, a junior from the University of British Columbia, made a big impact as the Riverhawks’ designated hitter. In just 32 games this summer, he finished second on the team in home runs with 5 and fourth in RBIs with 25.

Reece Hemmerling, the hometown kid from Beaumont, Alberta, completes the list of All-WCL honourees. Reece led the Riverhawks in strikeouts this season with 34 regular-season Ks, while also picking up four wins—including a huge playoff victory on the road, where he pitched a complete game, allowed just four hits, and threw 65 of his 99 pitches for strikes.

Head Coach Jake Lanferman expressed pride in his players following the announcement of seven All-WCL selections:

"Congratulations to our recognized players for consistently performing at a high level of excellence this season. This honour reflects not only their individual effort, but also the way they elevated the group around them. Our coaching staff and organization are proud of their commitment and determination - not only for their success on the field, but how they represented Edmonton."

Congratulations to all of these Riverhawks on an outstanding season and their well-deserved honours! A huge thank you to the Riverhawks coaches and teammates for helping this group—and the entire team—find success on the field this summer.

Finally, a huge thank you to the 148,000+ fans who filled RE/MAX Field throughout the regular season and playoffs. Your energy and support played a vital role in creating a memorable summer of baseball in Edmonton!

    Go Hawks.
