Stagg, Lenihan, Phelps, and Green to represent Edmonton at All-Star game
Four of the Riverhawks’ hottest bats are gearing up to make their West Coast League All-Star Game debuts on Wednesday, July 16th.
Leading the charge for the North Division is Riverhawks designated hitter Max Stagg. The Australian standout is turning heads with a .359 batting average and 37 hits on the season, ranking him 5th in the entire West Coast League!
Right alongside him is Canadian first baseman Trent Lenihan, swinging a strong .341 with 29 RBIs, also 5th-best in the league! A returning Riverhawk, Lenihan has been a consistent presence both offensively and defensively, anchoring the lineup and setting the tone in the clubhouse for two seasons.
Joining them is American shortstop Robert Phelps, a sparkplug on the basepaths. With 18 stolen bases on the season, second most in the West Coast League, Phelps has a knack for turning routine hits into scoring opportunities. That includes a record-breaking night where he stole five bases in a single game, setting a new Riverhawks benchmark.
Rounding out the Riverhawks’ All-Star roster is Ontario native Jason Green. The 6’5” catcher is making his presence felt at the plate, currently leading the team with three home runs… and counting.
The four Riverhawks will travel to Bellingham, Washington for the All-Star festivities, with the game set to take place on July 16th and livestreamed on MLB.com.
The team then returns home on Friday, July 18th for a weekend series against the Kamloops Northpaws. That weekend series is jam packed with fun:
- Friday, July 18th: Star Wars Night!
- Saturday, July 19th: Yeekawww Country Night presented by Daisy’s Saloon
- Sunday, July 20th: Brunch and Baseball presented by Global Edmonton
