The Edmonton Riverhawks will look to rebound in game two of a three game West Coast League series against the Kamloops NorthPaws on Saturday. The Riverhawks (18-10) dropped the opener with the NorthPaws (8-19) on Friday (July 6) falling 3-1. Edmonton couldn’t solve the mystery of Kamloops pitcher #25 Keith Mamby. The White Rock, BC resident threw only 90 pitches to win his first of the season in his second start. He pitched a complete game five hitter surrendering a run and striking out two. Edmonton's own #23 Brady Kobitowich tossed seven innings for the Hawks to take the loss. He gave up three runs on four hits and struck out four. He is 0-1 on the year.
Offensively, # 12 Rex Watson was 2 for 3 with a run scored for Edmonton. Teammate #35 Trent Lenihan was 1 for 4. The Riverhawks scored their lone run in the third inning after Kamloops scored once in the first and tacked on two more in the second.
The loss leaves Edmonton a game and a half behind front running Wenatchee in the WCL North Division. Wenatchee (21-10) won on the road in Nanaimo on Friday 5-4.
Tonight's theme is Country Night which is presented by CISN Country 103.9. Opening pitch is at 7:05 PM MST. The series winds up tomorrow with a matinee at 1:05 PM MST, celebrating Christmas in July and brought to you by 630 CHED and Santas Anonymous. Tickets are available by visiting tickets.gohawks.ca.
