Domingo Leads the Hawks into Game #2

    2024-06-01

The BC pitcher has the mound tonight, and a history in the WCL

    By Cody F. Schmidt

The Edmonton Riverhawks will aim to bounce back tonight after yesterday’s surprise walk-off loss to the Bellingham Bells. With 2024 now kicked off, the Hawks will need a win today to stop the trend of season opening losing streaks. Last year it took until June 10 for the team’s first win, and similarly the Hawks started 2022 with an 0-3 streak.

To try and balance out the series, manager Jake Lanferman will look to debuting Riverhawk #32 Vicarte Domingo to head to the mound. The righty is a Vancouver native who who pitched 40.2 innings for UBC this year, and has a 2.93 ERA over his three years with the Thunderbirds. Domingo also played for the 2020 Canada Jr. Team, and pitched against the Single-A Vancouver Canadians in an exhibition game this April. While this is Vicarte’s first game repping the Riverhawks it’s not his first in the WCL, as he pitched in 11 games for the Kamloops NorthPaws in 2022, never matching up against Edmonton.

Lineups to come when officially announced.
