Hawks Hope Rain Holds Off To Finish Series

Bragging rights will be on the line tonight when the Bellingham Bells and Edmonton Riverhawks close out their West Coast League baseball series at RE/MAX Field. The two will battle in the third and deciding game of the series. Opening pitch is set for 7:05 PM MDT.
The Riverhawks squared things up last night with a 6-4 victory before 2217 fans. The winning run was scored in the bottom of the seventh. Edmonton scored three times in that inning capped off when #48 Matt Stagg singled and scored on a stolen base.
The victory improved Edmonton’s season record to .500 (7-7). The Bells fell to 12-5 and fell back into a tie atop of the WCL North Division with Wenatchee. The Apple Sox are 11-4 on the year. The Riverhawks are 2.5 games off the pace.
#14 Tate Dearing came on in relief in the ninth inning to earn his first save of the year; pitching one inning with a strike out. #40 Rece Allensworth collected his first victory as he tossed an inning of relief. The Everett Community College righthander faced three batters and gave up one hit. He was the third of six pitchers the Riverhawks used in the ball game.
#32 Hayden George was tagged with the loss pitching an inning and a third. He gave up three runs on two hits while walking two and striking out one.
Bellingham outhit Edmonton 8-7 in the ball game.Offensively, the Riverhawks were led by #25 Royce Hale and #36 Mitchell Middlemiss. Both were two for four with a run scored and a run batted in. Kodama scored twice.#22 Rob Jacobsen went three for four for Bellingham. #8 Noah Cassie was two for four with a run scored.
Tonight’s promotion is a “Girls Pop Dance Party” which included a post-game dance, baton twirling performance and a pop star inspired beverage menu. Tonight’s game will be the sixth meeting between the Bells and Riverhawks this season. Bellingham has a 3-2 advantage.
