Riverhawks Head to Victoria as New Road Trip Begins

    2023-06-20

Hawks will see HarbourCats for the first time this season

    By Cody Schmidt

The Edmonton Riverhawks head out on their second road trip of the year after the last game of the home stand was rained out. Making their way for a pair of series on Vancouver Island, the Hawks will first take on the Victoria HarbourCats, before facing the Nanaimo NightOwls in a four game set.

The last time the Riverhawks saw the HarbourCats it was a face off to determine which team would make it into the WCL playoffs. The Cats ended up taking the last two games, pushing the Hawks out from playoffs in their inaugural season. The HarbourCats have stayed strong this season, sitting 11-4 on the year and tied half a game back from the division lead. The Cats dropped their last game to the Yakima Valley Pippins, but still came ahead in the series.

Your Hawks lineup for tonight, including the debut of #9 Skylar Chang:

    1- #10 Jonny McGill

    2- #1 Kelly Corl

    3- #15 Daniel Calbrese

    4- #42 Tom Poole

    5- #14 Tommy Takayoshi

    6- #30 Noah Boughton

    7- #28 Mark Ossanna

    8- #19 Will Gardner

    9- #9 Skyler Chang

    P- #33 Halen Knoll RHP

The Riverhawks will bring their best to take on the HarbourCats, as last year they ended up splitting the season series 3-3. The Hawks’ last series was cut short due to the rainout, but their Friday night game was a stellar 8-1 win before Saturday’s 12-1 blowout loss. The goal will be a continuation of Edmonton’s strong starting pitching, with the added bonus of the offensive surges and speed on the base paths the team has been able to pull off in the big wins.
