By Cody F. Schmidt
The Edmonton Riverhawks have a sweep in their sights, having won their last two games against the Wenatchee AppleSox. The Sox had been the top team in the WCL North Division, but thanks to the Hawks handing them their first series loss of the year Wenatchee as been demoted to second place. The Riverhawks meanwhile, have entered into double digits in the win column, as last night’s 5-2 victory was their 10th 2025 W.
The Hawks eye team veteran #8 Riley Barrett to take the mound this afternoon for the series capper. Having started games for Edmonton every year since the 2022, Barrett has been a constant in the rotation coming up from Arizona State University. The start will be his first of the season with the Hawks, and his third appearance, having tossed 5.0 frames with a 1.80 ERA sofar.
After today’s game the Riverhawks head to the island as next week sees them take on both the Nanaimo NightOwls and Victoria HarbourCats in a pair of road series. Fret not, as the Hawks will be back at RE/MAX Field for Canada Day on July 1, where you not only can watch the Riverhawks play the Port Angeles Lefties, but also hang around for the City of Edmonton’s fireworks and a ton of other fun celebrations.
The Hawks and Sox won’t be the only thrilling match on the field today, as it’s also Baseball and Body Slams presented by Boston Pizza. A post-game wrestling match will break out on the diamond as Top Talent Wrestling showcases their skill.
