    Hawks Ready to Ring Cats' Bell in Special Morning Game

    Over 7000 kids are playing hooky to cheer on the Riverhawks for School Spirit Day

    The Edmonton Riverhawks will hope to literally take the Victoria HarbourCats ‘to school’ as the teams meet up for the second of a three game West Coast Baseball league series Wednesday (June 4).

    The clubs will meet in an 11:00 AM MDT tilt at RE/MAX Field. It is the Riverhawks 3rd annual School Spirit Game presented by Qualico. Some 7 thousand fans are expected to take in the event which will include wacky mascots, acrobatic Canines and explosive live science experiments on the field.

    Last night (Tues June 3), in Edmonton’s first game of the 2025 WCL season, they outscored and out hit the HarbourCats 13-3. The loss was Victoria’s first in four starts. The contest saw the Riverhawks pound out 16 hits.

    #5 Anthony Kodema led the RiverHawks offense going 1 for 2 with three runs batted in. #4 Jaxon Fox was 4 for 5, #36 Mitchell Middlemiss was 2 for 4, # 6 Robert Phelps was 1 for 3. All three players had two runs batted in.

    Victoria was led by #10 Curtis McKay who was 2 for 3 with a run batted in.

    The Riverhawks are expected to start #41 James Brock (Burnaby, BC). Brock is one of five players on this year’s Edmonton roster from The University of British Columbia. Brock was 4-1 with a 5.94 Earned Run Average with the Thunderbirds. He added 3 saves.

    The teams will wrap up their three-game set on Thursday (June 5) at RE/MAX Field. The game time is 7:05 PM MDT.
