Fox’s Two Run Moonshot Not Enough as Falcons Rally Late To Take Down Riverhawks

Hawks bested as Kelowna surges in 8th

A back and forth affair on a windy Saturday night in Kelowna saw the Riverhawks fall short to the Falcons 7-4. The Riverhawks controlled the majority of the game, having a lead in 6 of the 9 innings. The biggest swing of the night seemed to be a 393 foot, 2-run moonshot by #13 Jaxon Fox in the top of the 7th to put the Riverhawks up 4-2. However, the Falcons would rally in the bottom of the 8th, scoring 5 runs to take the lead, and claim the series tying victory.

#13 Jaxon Fox led the way for the Riverhawks offense tonight, finishing 2-5 with 3 RBI’s, highlighted by his mammoth two run blast.

The Riverhawks would waste no time to open up the scoring in this one. With the bases loaded, #36 Mitchell Middlemiss would smack a ground ball to Kelowna’s second baseman who couldn’t make the play. #32 Jason Green would walk in to give the Riverhawks an early 1-0 lead.

#13 Jaxon Fox would cash in another run in the 2nd as #4 Aden Munoz would come home off of an error by Kelowna’s shortstop to extend the lead to 2-0.

Kelowna would get on the board in the 3rd with an RBI single from #20 Reez Kozar, putting the Falcons right back in the ball game at 2-1.

After a series of scoreless innings, the Falcons would draw even as the Falcons DH #40 Josh Cunnigan would hit a sacrifice fly to center, deadlocking the game 2-2 going into the final three innings.

In the 7th, after #24 Cale Clark would open up the top of the inning with a double, #13 Jaxon Fox would crank a clutch 2 run bomb on a full count to regain another Riverhawks lead at 4-2.

The Falcons would have an answer and more in the 8th as they would add five runs highlighted by #33 Jadin Moreno bases loaded doubles, giving Kelowna their first lead of the night and making it 7-4.

That would do it, after the Riverhawks went 1,2,3 to end the game in the top of the 9th, falling 7-4 against the Falcons.
