After a game of heroics last night, the Edmonton Riverhawks were unable to take the series against the Kelowna Falcons. The Hawks were quieted as many of their attempts at a batting rally were shut down before they could result in anything meaningful. While it was quiet for both sides through the majority of innings, the Falcons surged ahead in the 9th to put the win out of reach for the Hawks

The Hawks only run came in the bottom of the 7th with #14 Tommy Takayoshi reaching base on a fielder’s choice, then being driven home by #2 Jack Wheatley who singled to right field for the RBI.

It was a quieter start for the Riverhawks, who didn’t get the jump on the Falcons like last night. Instead Kelowna broke the scoreless tie in the 2nd, then added a run on in the 4th. Starter #3 Dallin Harrison had his best start yet despite the loss, only allowing three runs on seven hits across 6.1 innings of work. The 7th was the only inning that gave Harrison much trouble, as he exited the game giving up the third Falcons run with just one out. Otherwise with Harrison beating his season high for innings, his best result on the mound so far just lacked any sort of offensive backup.

#20 Noah Bourgeois came in to finish off the 7th inning, which he did handily by inducing a 6-3 double play. Bourgeois returned for the 8th with a 1-2-3 inning, and ran into a jam in his 9th. A leadoff walk led to loaded bases thanks to a single and a walk. #37 Chas Wheatley would come into the 9th with one out, relieving Bourgeois and immediately walking in Kelowna’s fourth run. Things fell apart further for the Hawks, as a sac fly and a single end up plating three more Kelowna runs. With Wheatley only able to get the one out via the sac fly, #7 Reece Hemmerling was brought in to quickly snag the final out in his Hawks debut.

With the series concluded, the Riverhawks will head on the road. A three game series begins in Kamloops on Tuesday as the Hawks will see the NorthPaws for the second time this season. Following that, the Hawks will stay in interior BC and meet up with the Falcons in Kelowna. The Riverhawks return home the following week to welcome the Ridgefield Raptors on July 18.
