    Jason Green Mashes Two Dingers to Lead Hawks to Win

    Green contributes 3 runs of the 5-1 victory thanks to some big homers

    PORT ANGELES, WA—

    If anyone questioned why Jason Green was chosen to be part of the 2025 West Coast League North Division all-star team before-those doubts would have been answered Saturday night (July 12) in Port Angeles.

    #35 Green, a 6’5” catcher/infielder from Georgetown, Ontario blasted a pair of home runs leading the Edmonton Riverhawks to a 5-1 win over the host Lefties in WCL action at Civic Field.

    The Niagara University catcher/first baseman/pitcher hit a two-run dinger in the second inning and added a leadoff homer in the fourth inning to power the Riverhawks to their fifth victory in nine starts in the second half of the WCL season. That upped Green’s total to six homers on the season and raised his runs batted in total to 20. Green wound up going 2-4 on the night with two runs scored and three RBI.

    The loss dropped Port Angeles’ second half record to 3 and 5. The Riverhawks snapped a two-game losing streak by scoring five runs on six hits and committing one error. The Lefties had one run on 10 hits and three errors.

    Edmonton opened the scoring in that second inning. #50 Chavis Conceicao singled and then was brought home on Green’s first homer of the night. The Riverhawks added to their lead in the top of the 3rd. #13 Grant Yzermans led the inning off with a double, got to third on a ground out and scored on an RBI double off the bat of #1 Shiryu Sato. Sato was 1-4 with a run batted in.

    After the Lefties scored a run in the bottom of that inning, Edmonton added another run on Green’s leadoff home run. They made it 5-1 in the top of the fifth as Yzermans was hit by a pitch and scored on an error charged to Lefties pitcher # 43 Kaleb Mullen. Yzermans wound up 1-3 with two runs scored in the ball game.

    Offensively for Port Angeles, their WCL North Division all-star selection: 13 Tommy Markey was 3-4 with a run scored.Riverhawks starter #20 Reece Hemmerling was the winning pitcher. He tossed five innings of seven hit ball, surrendering a run while walking one and striking out four. He made his seventh start of 2025 and upped his record to 2 wins and a loss. Port Angeles starter #29 Garrett Patterson was tagged with the loss (his first in his first start of the year). He gave up five hits and four runs through three innings of work. He struck out four and walked one.

    These two teams will close out their series Sunday . Opening pitch will be 2:35 PM MDT. #21 Myles Chamberlain puts his West Coast League best 4-0 record on the line for the Riverhawks against Port Angeles’ #28 Brad Johnson who is 2-1 on the season.     The Riverhawks and Lefties along with all the rest of the West Coast League teams will take a few days for the All Star break. The 2025 West Coast League All Star Game will be played at Joe Martin Stadium in Bellingham on Wednesday, July 16th.

    Four members of the Riverhawks will be a part of the North Division team: 48 Max Stagg, # 35 Trent Lenihan, # 6 Robert Phelps and Green. The Riverhawks are now 3-2 over the Lefties this season and 18-5 all-time against Port Angeles.
