A 10-4 win as the Hawks keep hitting homers

The ocean air must agree with the Edmonton Riverhawks. Playing this weekend in Victoria, the Riverhawks for the second straight night hit home runs. Saturday, the Riverhawks hammered the host Victoria HarbourCats 10-4, evening the series at a game apiece. Edmonton had 10 runs on 13 hits and one error. Victoria scored four times on eight hits and committed 3 errors. The Riverhawks are now 22-13 on the year while The HarbourCats fall to 17-18.
#54 Sam Kane and #36 Jakob Poturnak hit back-to-back homers in the third inning. It was the second round tripper of the year for both players. For Kane, the Reno, Nevada resident has homers in two straight contests. He was 2-5 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Poturnak was also 2-5 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.#9 Mahidutt Tabata was 2-5 with two RBI and a run scored while teammate #6 Taichi Nakao was 1-5 with 2 RBI. #3 Michael Soper was 1-5 with a run scored. Soper has hits in five straight games.
#48 Fernando Palencia started for the Riverhawks and went five innings for his second win of the WCL season (2-0). He surrendered four hits, two runs, struck out two and walked three. He was one of five pitchers utilized by Edmonton.
The Riverhawks sent nine players to the plate in the top of the ninth inning: scoring four times at that time to put the game away.#45 Payton Parkinson took the loss for Victoria, he started and went three innings giving up six hits, four runs and struck out two. These teams wrap up their series on Vancouver Island tomorrow with a 2:00 MDT start time. The entire West Coast League will take a pause for the All-Star break (July 23-24). The Riverhawks have five players going to the all-star game: Soper, Poturnak, #5 Bryce McFeely, # 14 Tate Dearing and #32 Vicarte Domingo.
