Edmonton fights back to take game three 9-1

WENATCHEE, WASHINGTON–
#32 Jason Green has had a summer to remember playing for the Edmonton Riverhawks. The 6’5” catcher from Georgetown, Ontario has impressed with his prowess behind the plate but most notably in the batter’s box. On Thursday, Green helped the Riverhawks end a two-game losing skid with five runs batted in including four on his second grand slam of the West Coast League season, 4 leading Edmonton to a 9-1 over the AppleSox in Wenatchee. The victory gave the Riverhawks a 1-2 record in this series and improved their WCL second half record to 10-5 (24-17 overall). The AppleSox saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end as they fall to 8-7 in the second half. Wenatchee is 24-18 overall.
Green’s grand slam came in a five run third inning. At the time, Edmonton had a 1-0 lead thanks to #4 Jaxon Fox singling to center field in the top of the second. He scored on a sacrifice fly to centerfield by #50 Chavis Conciecao.The scoring in the third inning started when #29 Taichi Nakao walked and scored on an RBI single to left field off the bat of #35 Trent Lenihan. That made the score 2-0 for the visitors. Green’s grand slam brought home Lenihan, 16 Kyle Yip and Fox. After Wenachee cut the Riverhawks lead to 6-1 with a run of their own in the bottom of the seventh, Edmonton scored three more times in the top of the ninth. Nakao was hit by a pitch and scored on an RBI single from Yip. Fox walked and scored on a wild pitch and then Green stepped up with two out and singled to left field plating Yip to make the score 9-1.The Riverhawks scored nine runs on eight hits.
The AppleSox had one run on five hits with two errors.Edmonton started newly acquired #34 Jack MacIntosh. He pitched one inning to five hitters, giving up two walks. He was the first of four Riverhawks pitchers. #18 MasonChamberlain, the third Edmonton pitcher, got the victory. He went three and two thirds inning giving up two hits, one run, striking out three and walking one. He is now 2-0 on the season.# 29 Aiden Gonzalez was the second of three AppleSox pitchers in this one. He was tagged with the loss. Gonzalez went four innings giving up five runs on five hits, with a walk and five strikeouts. His record falls to 1-2.
Offensively for the Riverhawks: Green was 2-4 with five runs batted in and a run scored. Yip was 2-5 with two runs scored and a run batted in. Fox was 2-4 with three runs scored.
Wenatchee was led by #2 Cade Martinez. He was 2-5 with a run scored. #32 Izzie Madariaga was 1-3 with a run batted in. The Riverhawks will continue their road swing by heading to the Okanagan where they will tangle with the Kelowna Falcons. It is the first of six games between these two teams. The first three tilts will be at Elks Stadium beginning tomorrow (Friday July 25, 2025). Opening Pitch will be at 6:35 PM PDT. The Falcons and Riverhawks met in Kelowna June 10-12th, Edmonton won the first game 4-1 and the third contest 7-0. Kelowna took the second tilt 3-0.The AppleSox also hop the bus. They will take the ferry to Victoria to meet up with the HarbourCats beginning tomorrow. It’s the start of six games on the road for Wenatchee.
