Box ScoreBy Cody F. Schmidt
On a rainy Friday night, the Edmonton Riverhawks were unable to overcome the Wenatchee AppleSox. Losing 7-1 the Hawks had a ton of hits, but couldn’t string them together to combat Wenatchee’s 4-run 7th.
The Riverhawks tied the game up in the 2nd off a walk and a pair of singles. #25 Trey Dunn reached on four straight balls, then was moved around by base hits from #26 Russell Young and #6 Taichi Nakao.
While they weren’t able to add on runs, the Hawks kept working at the plate, outhitting the AppleSox. Young had a three hit game with a trio of singles, and #9 Mahidutt Tabata and Dunn joined him in the multi-hit club.
After a 1-2-3 1st, starting pitcher #23 Brady Kobitowich ran into an bit of trouble in the 2nd as his three outs were interrupted by four walks, bringing an AppleSox runner home for free. Again, Brady had a three-up-three-down 3rd but followed with a two run 4th allowing a single and a pair of doubles. The middle innings went well, including a 5th that featured a slick 6-4-3 double play launched by a leaping #47 Will Vasseur. Brady would end up striking out a pair looking in his 6.0 innings of work
It was a rude welcome to #21 Myles Chamberlain taking over in the 7th. The AppleSox hit three straight singles followed by a bases-clearing triple and an RBI groundout. Chamberlain would only pitch a single inning, but did get a called srikeout. The 8th was #43 Rory Lampe’s, and other than a walk he tossed another effective inning that increased his scoreless streak to 9.1 frames. A recent addition to the team, #56 Zac Foden pitched the 9th
