Hawks return to above .500 ahead of Home Stand

After combining for just 3 runs in the first two games in their series against the AppleSox, the Riverhawks lineup came to life in the series finale, posting 12 runs along with 14 hits. This is the 8th time in 2026 where the Riverhawks have posted 10+ runs in a win. Heading into an important homestand against Nanaimo and then Marion, your Riverhawks will look to build off a high flying offensive showing.

The story of the night was Riverhawks catcher #53 Gianluca Montanaro, who put up a career performance tonight at the plate. Not only did he secure his very first WCL RBI, he secured 4 of them, including a huge 411 foot, 3 run bomb increasing the Riverhawks lead to 6 in the 3rd inning. #53 Gianluca Montanaro finished the game 4/6, tallying 4 RBI’s, and 2 runs. #39 Chris Parkin also smacked one over the fence tonight, earning his first ever WCL homer, while #32 Jason Green posted a solid offensive outing acting as DH, going 3/5 while drawing in 2 runs.

Head Coach Jake Lanferman was pleased with the club's performance on both sides of the ball.

"We played solid defence tonight and didn't commit any errors for the first time in this series. I thought the homers by Parkin and Montanario were key for us. This was also a big bounceback game for Green (Jason). ”

The entire Riverhawks pitching staff tonight put on a clinic, highlighted by starter #41 Trey Nance. The Riverhawks right hander threw 6 scoreless innings, only giving up 3 hits while tallying 4 Ks. #41 Trey Nance now moves to 2-0 record on the season, posting his first pitching outing of 2026 where he gave up no runs.

In the 2nd, after #51 Easton Andrews added his 25th hit on the season with a single, #57 Finnegan Stewart and the designated hitter #32 Jason Green would both get on to create a no out, bases loaded chance for the Riverhawks. #53 Gianluca Montanaro would record his first WCL RBI of his career, chopping an infield single to jump the Riverhawks out to a 1-0 lead. #20 Oliver Clements would add another the very next at bat, hitting a ground ball for a force out, but extending the Riverhawks lead to 2-0.

In the 3rd, the Riverhawks bats would take over this one. #39 Chris Parkin would belt an absolute bomb to right field, securing his first home run of the 2026 campaign, making it 3-0 Riverhawks. Then with 2 on, 2 out, #53 Gianluca Montanaro would crush a 411 ft, 3 run shot to put this game out of reach for the Riverhawks, widening their lead to 6-0.

The offense continued to roll in the 6th, after #20 Oliver Clements opened up the inning with a crafty bunt for a single. After advancing to third, #20 Oliver Clements would score after a wild pitch, dashing home to beat out the tag by the AppleSox catcher, increasing the lead to 7-0. #51Easton Andrews would add an RBI to his night, hitting a perfectly placed single up the middle, giving the Riverhawks a 8-0 lead.

In the top of the 7th, in his second game since returning from injury, #13 Jaxon Fox would add two more runs to the Riverhawks lead, cranking a 1 out, 2 RBI single to put the Riverhawks up 10-0. The AppleSox would break the shutout late in the 8th, with 1 out, #17 Gage Wareham would hit a sacrifice fly to put Wenatchee on the board to make it 10-1. A single from #11 Kanoa Morisaki would score another, making it 10-2.

The top of the 9th saw the Riverhawks cap off their offensive outing with a another run, as with the bases loaded #39 Chris Parkin was clipped with a pitch, advancing a runner home to make it 11-2. The Riverhawks would regain their 10 run advantage, as #57 Finnegan Stewart would grab a sacrifice fly to center field, making it 12-2 Riverhawks.
