    KELOWNA, BC---

    The Edmonton Riverhawks kicked off their first 2025 West Coast League road swing on the right note. Playing at Elks Stadium in Kelowna, the Riverhawks dumped the host Falcons 4-1 tonight.

    The Riverhawks improved their record to 5-2 in the WCL North Division. The Falcons fell to 2-8 as they honored their city’s firefighters.

    Edmonton broke open a scoreless tie in the fourth inning, adding two more in the sixth and one more in the seventh. They rattled the Falcons pitching with 11 hits. Kelowna scored their lone run in the fifth and had five hits on the night.

    #6 Robert Phelps led off the fourth with a double and scored on a single off the bat of #13 Grant Yzermans. Yzermans went 3-4 with a run batted in.

    After the Falcons tied it with a run in the fifth inning, the Riverhawks took the lead for good with two runs on their own in the top of the sixth inning. With two out, 35 Trent Lenihan stroked a triple scoring both Yzermans and #48 Max Stagg. Lenihan went 1-3 at the dish with two RBI. Stagg extended his hit streak to seven games with a single in the contest. He went 1-3. The Australian entered the game second in the West Coast League in batting average. He was .480 through six games with 25 at bats, 12 hits, one double and two runs batted in.

    Edmonton made it 4-1 in the seventh when #16 Kyle Yip led off the inning with a solo homer. Yip was 2-4 on the night with an RBI.

    Kelowna was led offensively by #27 Jimmy Dionne and #49 Uriah Walters. Both went 1-3.

    #41 James Brock went six innings for his second victory of the season for Edmonton. Brock had six strikeouts, gave up a run and four hits. He was one of four Riverhawks pitchers. #34 Luke Brown started and was tagged with the loss for Kelowna. He lasted four innings, gave up four hits, a run, had a strikeout and a walk. He is 0-2 on the year.

    The series concludes Thursday night before the Riverhawks head up Highway 97 to Kamloops for a three-game set against the NorthPaws which begins Friday night.

    Next home action for the Riverhawks is Tuesday, June 17th when the Bellingham Bells come in for another three-game set at RE/MAX Field. The opening pitch is 7:05 PM MDT.
