Riverhawks Announce 2025 Alternate Identity Jersey
2025-06-06

The Green Onion Cakes Are Set to Hit the Field on Saturday, June 7th!
The Edmonton Riverhawks are proud to unveil their 2025 alternate identity jersey: the Green Onion Cakes, a tribute to one of Edmonton’s most beloved and iconic foods!
Inspired by local legend Siu, the Green Onion Cake Man, this delicious new alternate identity celebrates a dish that’s as uniquely Edmonton as the Riverhawks themselves. From festival food tents and farmers' markets to Siu’s iconic restaurant on 118th Avenue, green onion cakes have held a special place in the hearts of Edmontonian's for decades. Now, they’re stepping up to the plate at RE/MAX Field too.
The jersey, designed by local Edmonton artist Mike Lundy, shows off vibrant green onion accents and a playful green onion cake mascot, ready to take centerfield!
To go with the on-field look, the Riverhawks have also proudly teamed up with Lundy’s local clothing company, Flannel Foxes, to launch the Green Onion Cake Tee—perfect for fans to wear in the stands while cheering on the Cakes on the field! These tees will be available at the Hawk Shop at RE/MAX Field starting on Saturday, June 7th and Sunday, June 8th.
Following in the footsteps of the fan-favourite Talus Balls jerseys in 2023 and the Silver City Dragons jerseys in 2024, the Green Onion Cakes mark the latest chapter in the Riverhawks’ tradition of celebrating Edmonton’s unique spirit through fun, alternate identities. It’s a delectable tribute to local pride and a nod to the city’s rich multicultural roots.
The Green Onion Cakes will take the field for the first time tomorrow, Saturday, June 7, when the Riverhawks host Sasky Night! And yes— green onion cakes will be available for fans to enjoy at the ballpark on Saturday night!
Tickets for Sasky Night and the debut of the Green Onion Cakes are available at tickets.gohawks.ca
See you there, Edmonton!
